We’re investing in our care for residents with dementia
Residents at Vincent Court are benefitting from an ongoing investment in specialised dementia care training.
Manager, Alan, says “We make it a priority to ensure residents living with memory support needs are receiving the quality care, compassion and comfort they deserve and our team undergoes regular training to ensure they continue to advance their skills.”
Team members undertake online learning modules or a three-day training program delivered by Dementia Training Australia annually to ensure they’re equipped and able to provide the highest level of dementia care in our region.
“At the heart of our approach is personalised care,” says Alan. “We listen carefully and offer the physical, emotional and spiritual support each resident needs. We recognise that each resident living with cognitive impairment has a unique story, preferences and individual needs. We work in partnership with residents and their families, providing empathy through every stage of their journey.”
Lifestyle Officer Tracey says, “At Vincent Court, we provide all residents, including those living in our Memory Support Household, with a range of meaningful and engaging activities that boost mood, build connections and provide a sense of purpose.
“We allow the residents the space and freedom to express themselves. Residents eagerly look forward to the activities and particularly enjoy dancing to the musical entertainment, taking walks through the garden to watch the chickens or pick flowers, and sitting in the sunshine for a chat with other residents and staff,” she says.
The memory support household at Vincent Court is dedicated to supporting individuals with dementia or memory support needs. This household has recently been renovated and is purposefully designed to feel welcoming, safe and homely.
