Green thumbs, good times and great finds
A recent trip to the local Bunnings was a highlight for the gardening and DIY enthusiasts in our community, as well as those who just love an outing with friends.
The excursion was organised in response to residents’ requests, proving that a trip to the iconic hardware store never loses its appeal.
After stopping for coffee and sweet treats in the café, residents spread out, some browsing the plants, pots and colourful blooms, while others explored the aisles for handy home items and inspiration for projects.
Resident, Maureen, was pleased to find several useful goodies to help maintain her room and courtyard, including a dustpan and broom, along with a couple of plants to brighten her outdoor space. Jane, who also loves gardening, added a few plants to her trolley too. As residents boarded the bus, the excitement continued. There were plenty of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ as everyone revealed their purchases and shared their plans.
Lifestyle Lead, Michelle, says shopping, particularly, at Bunnings is a popular request. “They enjoy the social connection from their outings, but importantly, they love the opportunity to continue to enjoy familiar activities from everyday life.”
“It was so good to get out and spend time together,” agreed the residents.
