Little voices have a big impact
There was singing, laughter and even a few happy tears when the St Joseph’s Primary School children put on a very special concert for residents recently.
After months of rehearsals, the children from years 2 and 3, showcased their special talents to the eager audience. From poetry to song, and wearing cowboy hats to floral crowns and even a cockatoo outfit, they performed with pride. And their audience was enthralled! Residents clapped, cheered and even joined in as familiar favourites like Once a Jolly Swagman, Waltzing Matilda and This Little Light of Mine echoed through the room.
For some, the concert was especially moving. At its conclusion, one resident stood to thank the children for their visit. “I just want to say thank you,” she said. “My grandchildren live far away and I don’t get to see them often, so it was amazing to see and hear you all performing.”
Manager, Sheridan, says there is something incredibly special about bringing children and the older generations together. “You can see the joy on the residents’ faces the moment the students walk into the room. It’s wonderful to witness the power of connection through music, stories and games,” she says.
